EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Operates light, medium, or heavy equipment; operates trucks to transport personnel, equipment, refuse and/or materials to and from work sites. Operates power tools, uses hand tools and performs a variety of skilled/manual tasks and activities, i.e., spraying, landscape, moving furniture, infrastructure repairs, mowing, or asphalt, fabricating. Assist with the cleaning and repair of sewer mains. Provide effective maintenance and mechanical service for wastewater utility services. Utilizes troubleshooting abilities to assist in solving utility problems. Investigates and responds to complaints from the public utilizing the city tablet. May operate light equipment such as, Air Compressor-200 PSI Barricade/Cone/Bicycle Rack Truck, Concrete Mixer/Saw Portable Flat Bed Sign Plotter/Print. Forklift (small, even surface) Message Board, Pneumatic Jack Hammer, Portable Gas Generator, Stake Bed Utility Truck/Hydraulic Lift, WL Repair-Hand Tools. Maintains, cleans and services equipment, vehicles, tools, and facilities. Inspects vehicles for required supplies, materials, and equipment. Observes and follows all safety procedures and precautions in the operation of equipment/tools at worksite. May act as a lead of a crew and coordinate and monitor work assignments and personnel. Prepare and maintains reports, forms, and records of assignments, service calls and/or maintenance and repairs of equipment and tools utilizing a data tracking system. Perform other duties as assigned. WILL TRAIN EMPLOYEE. WILL WORK WEEKENDS IF NEEDED. Requires a valid CDL Driver License.

KNOWLEDGE: Requires a high school diploma, GED, or the ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions at a level necessary for successful job performance supplemented by specialized courses or training in the operation of the construction equipment.

EXPERIENCE: Six months of experience performing manual and field work with power tools or equipment are required.

License: Requires a valid Class A or B CDL DRIVERS LICENSE

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of 30-80 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns. This is a Tier I position and may require responding to emergency calls and working longer shifts including sleeping in the facility during an emergency.

PHYSICAL SKILL: Requires the ability to make fairly complex coordinated and sequenced motor movements in response to quickly changing external stimuli.
